4 Natural Spices That Will Keep You Away From Sugar

Adding spices to a meal is not only fun, but can tamp your desire to add unnecessary sugar to a meal. Therefore, you can add distinct flavors without skyrocketing your blood sugar, and receive extra health benefits.

1. Cinnamon-

Cinnamon has a sweet flavor and can be used in just about anything. From stews to sweet dishes, you will be pleasantly surprised to find that a small amount of cinnamon goes a long way. It is a perfect replacement for brown sugar in any meal, or can be sprinkled on fruits and ice cream to liven up a simple desert. One of cinnamon’s best qualities is its ability to lessen the impact of sugar on your blood sugar levels.

2. Vanilla Beans-

Although vanilla beans are more of fruit than a spice; about one inch of a vanilla bean is roughly equal to one teaspoon of pure vanilla extract. Instead of sugar, vanilla beans can be a great substitute to be added into coffee, breakfast grains, and certain deserts. The health benefits of the vanilla bean is that its active compound vanillin has vast amounts of antioxidants. Many scientists believe that vanilla beans have a positive impact on people who have Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

3. Cloves-

The sweet or bittersweet taste of cloves can be used when they are ground or dried. Cloves are popular in chicken, curry, and stew dishes. When converted into oil, cloves are known to be applied to a cavity or a decayed tooth. So, if you simply fear the dentist or can’t get an immediate appointment try this natural alternative.

4. Cardamom-

Cardamom is often used in German, Russian, and Scandinavian bakeries. Instead of sugar, this spice is usually substituted instead of sugar in baked goods. Cardamom has a strong, unique taste, with an intensely aromatic fragrance. Furthermore, cardamom is known to relieve bloating!
